Shapers
A Wood Shaper is essentially a beefed up router with added power and capabilities. By utilizing a spindle assembly rather than collets, cutters can be stacked, and even run in reverse on the shaper. The amount of height travel is far greater on the shaper than that of a router table, and many of them include above the table cutter change capability, micro adjustable fences, dust collection, digital readouts, and more. Shapers use larger cutters at lower speeds and have large induction motors, providing a smoother, far more powerful cut than routers can deliver.
