How does the SawStop Flesh Detection Technology work?
A Sawstop tablesaw will monitor and detect skin: The blade carries a small electrical signal. When skin encounters the spinning blade, the signal changes because the human body is a conductive element. The change to the signal will activate the Sawstop safety system.Brake activation will occur under the saw: An aluminum brake springs into the spinning blade, stopping it in less than 5 milliseconds. The blade’s angular momentum drives it beneath the table of the saw and removes risk of subsequent contact. When this happens the power to the motor will shut off.
Resetting the table saw for use: Resetting the saw to use again is very easy. Simply replace the blade, the brake cartridge and the Sawstop table saw is ready to operate. The entire reset process can be completed in less than five minutes.
