This is a solid cast iron lathe, with Digital Readout, and a 14 in. Swing Capacity, making it an ideal entry level lathe, a secondary lathe or an investment for long term wood turners and woodworkers who want a smaller footprint but a flexible capacity lathe option in their workshop. Great midi lathe
After much research we purchased this lathe/chuck'accessories bundle. The system has performed well so far. It's heavy enough so as to not need to be bolted to table I built specifically for it. It's small enough to consume minimal space in my shop but expandable at a reasonable price for longer work. You will need a gooseneck magnetic LED lamp for illuminating your work. I found one easy enough. It's been over fifty years since I last turned wood in JR high school shop class and the advancements this machine, attachments and tools provide are unbelievable. Highly recommended as an Avenue to learn new technique and create. Go with higher end chisels like Robert Sorby and invest in good sharpening equipment. Remember... you get what you pay for. Be patient after ordering. This system may be back ordered. Further, for security's sake, Grizzly does a an intensive review of you and your order before approval to ship to minimize online fraud. Their customer service folks are polite and helpful when you call. This lathe was worth the wait. Thanks To the Grizzly team!

love this lathe
I was looking for a secondary lathe to do smaller projects on and have a small foot print. This lathe worked out perfectly and I can turn decent sized bowls in it. A nice little lathe for the price.

Nice machine But
I bought this machine because it fits where I need it to in garage. Wanted bigger. Took me some time to get in sync with it. Came in a good shipping container well padded. So how come there was rust on the bed and under tail stock? Light 500grit sanding and oil clean up but pitted. When turning 8 " bowls anything under 500rpm motor looses torque fast. So light cutting is in order until round. No fan of module tool rest concept somehow set screws come loose. Yes using cushion button. Just remember not all 1 hp is the same. More torque is needed. So a better motor. Overall I would recommend well built machine
