Rated 5 out of 5 by from CORDLESS and packed with features [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Fantastic heat gun loaded with features! I’m a DIYer and woodworking hobbyist, and this tool has several uses around the shop and around the house. Overall fit and finish is excellent, as expected. Features: - LED light makes seeing your target work area much easier - LCD screen is easy to monitor temperature (Celsius or Fahrenheit), as well as battery life. Adjusting the temperature is very easy, and the screen is well-lit and easy to see. - Hanging hook is convenient to hang or store out of the way, especially when the gun is hot. - Extra attachments are great and expands the capabilities. The best part of the design is the black collar will rotate to remove the attachments without having to touch them (just be mindful of where it is going to fall when it is still hot). - Heat output has a nice range of 86-1022 degrees F, and is adjustable by 10 degrees Celsius. There are 2 output settings, high and low, and it it remembers the last temperature used on each setting. Uses so far: - The biggest project was removing adhesive linoleum flooring. The high heat loosens the adhesive to make it much easier to pull up. If you’ve ever tried this without a heat gun, you know it’s a pain. - I also use epoxy resins on different woodworking projects, and this does a great job at removing the bubbles instead of using a torch. - Vinyl stencils are much easier to apply and remove the bubbles with a heat gun. This unit makes it much easier to not worry about cords running everywhere. There are many more ways this tool can be used and I’m glad to have the addition to my workshop!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great range of features! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this about two months ago and I’ve used it in three separate scenarios and it has performed very well for all of them. The first area I’ve used in has been in the patching of drywall. I am a trim Carpenter by trade and when I’m doing new construction there are times when you can’t help but Bang up the level 4 finish drywall. I’ve used it with both five minute and 20 minute mud during my patchwork and within a minute of pointing the heat gun at each of the fills it was ready to sand. This is especially good because I only have 3ah batteries for the gun and it chews through them pretty quickly. The next area I’ve used it has been in the removal of paint and caulking. If you’re a remodeler you’re aware of how obnoxious it can be to do both of these tasks and my typical go to for them is a scraper blade, an offset corner knife for drywall, and a specialized caulking tool that has a hooked sort of a knife on it that helps get down into the 90° corner and pull the bead out. The gun makes both the paint and the caulk removal significantly easier. For the paint I just run the gun about 6 inches in front of the knife and it lifts away effortlessly. I essentially do the same thing with caulking and just run my caulking tool right behind the heat nozzle. it softens the bead allowing me to pull it out with less effort and also makes for a cleaner product. This particular application has probably been where I’ve used the gun the most. If you’re thinking about getting it for this purpose, I’d reccomend investing in some Metabo HPT multivolt batteries, as they will last significantly longer than my 3ah ones do. The third place that I’ve found this to be effective Has been in the removal of bubbles from epoxy. I occasionally do knot filling for cabinetry, finish material, and furniture with a total boat epoxy clear epoxy. The problem I have with Epoxy in general is that due to the chemical process involved it’s almost impossible to mix it without creating bubbles. Often times does bubbles rise to the surface as the Epoxy sets but they don’t pop they just create ridges on the surface. When you sand the surface down however the ridges pop and reveal cavities in the final product. Since epoxy is so tedious to work with in the first place you don’t really want to go to have to mix another batch so the traditional method of getting it out is to use low temperature flame or even better a heat gun. This gun is perfect for this application because you don’t need to run the gun for a significant amount of time to get the bubbles out you just have to make one quick pass at high heat and you’re done. I could easily see this being used to remove bubbles in much larger pours of epoxy like river tables for example simply because of how effective it is, and imagine it would be favorable since the table maker wont have to mind a cord to keep from drowning it in the liquid plastic. The hi/low fan settings are simple and reasonable. The temperature adjustment is very simple as well just using a set of arrow buttons to increase up and down. It’s also very nice that it has an LCD backlit display on it because a lot of the trim jobs I’m on do not have adequate lighting. The hook is nice too when you’re working on a ladder. Overall I have nothing bad to say about this tool. Heating coils require a significant amount of power so I was not expecting a lot of battery life out of my small 3.0 amp hour batteries but at full charge and full heat and speed I’m able to use the gun continuously for 10 to 15 minutes before it has drained the battery, which is very impressive. The included nozzles for focusing heat are a nice and welcome addition, and the quick eject for removing them was a fantastic touch so that you don’t have to wear gloves to swap heads or wait for the gun to cool down. All in all this is the best heat gun I’ve ever used, cordless or otherwise and I’d be shocked if anyone can do better than Metabo HPT.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Heat Gun! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this heat gun three weeks ago. Out of the box I was impressed with the fit and finish of the tool. The slide switch operates smoothly between off, low and high. Once I put a battery in, the back lit screen displays the temp, fan and battery level. Temp is displayed in Celsius and Fahrenheit and can be adjusted with the buttons just below the display screen. The heat gun also comes with three attachments that slide over the heat port so that you can use it more precisely, or there is one that can be used to help bend tubing (I did not try this attachment). When trying it out, it heats up fast. I only have a Wagner corded heat gun to compare it to, but when going back and forth between the two, the Metabo HPT gets to its set temp before the Wagner which I typically have to wait a couple minutes for it to heat up. The Wagner only has high and low and no other adjustability like the Metabo HPT heat gun. This adjustability is a welcome feature since you don't always need extreme heat depending on use. The heat gun can lay flat (heat port up) when using the tube bending attachment. It lays solid so you can use both hands. I played around with this but never bent any plastic tubing. I can see where this would come in handy for a plumber. Using the heat gun is a pleasant experience. I'm currently working on a hobby car and had some soldering to do and needed to remove some old decals. I used the heat gun on the heat shrink to cover up soldered wire connections. I used the cone attachment for this to really pinpoint the heat to the heat shrink. It made quick work of the few soldered connections I did. For removing the old decals, I used the flat/pan attachment. I adjusted the heat to a lower temp since I was removing decals from a plastic rooftop basket. Once dialed in, the heat gun made easy work of removing the old decals. There was no deformation of the rooftop basket. Overall, I am very happy with the Metabo HPT heat gun. It's not much bigger than my cordless drill, light weight and comfortable in the hand. It's easy to operate and outperforms my corded heat gun. I used 4/8 AH multivolt battery when using it with no problems and experienced good run time of the tool. I would high recommend this tools to anyone looking for a cordless heat gun. Well done Metabo HPT!
