Makita Cordless Tools
Makita launched its first cordless tool, a cordless drill, in 1978. Eliminating the cord freed the worker from the power source, but early cordless tool models had several limitations. These limitations did keep them out of the professional's tool chest, however, they did appeal to the do-it-yourselfer. Improvements in battery technology boosted power and running time and by the late 1980's, Makita's 9.6 Volt families of cordless tools were beginning to find their way onto construction sites. Today Makita boasts a complete line of cordless tools powered by lithium-ion batteries, like their LXT and LCT Series.
