One of the biggest questions to ask yourself is what is the diameter of the piece that I am turning? This will allow you to determine which lathe best suits your needs. Please keep in mind that the differences between the Bench Lathe vs Engine Lathe is that the bench lathe comes in two pieces: the lathe itself and its stand. Upon receiving the machine the lathe portion must be installed onto the stand. The engine lathe comes as one piece.
