Awls, pics and scribers are very influential tools in many different industries, including the wood and metalworking industries. One main function of both awls and scribers is to mark material with a finer and more permanent mark than a pencil or pen would. Scribers are designed for marking metal before machining, while awls are designed more for woodworking and can also make holes in wood. Although labeled as dental pics in some cases, pics can be used for many more applications than just dental ones.
